OPENING CHANT

Oṁ vande gurūṇāṁ caraṇāravinde
sandarśita-svātma sukhāvabodhe
niḥśreyase jāñgalikāyamāne
saṁsāra-hālāhala-moha-śāntyai

ābāhu puruṣākāraṁ
śaṅkha-cakrāsi-dhāriṇam
sahasra-śirasaṁ śvetaṁ
praṇamāmi Patañjalim

Om
I bow to the lotus feet of all gurus,
which awaken and manifest insight into the happiness of pure Being
which are the refuge, the jungle physician
which relieve the poisonous delusion of conditioned existence, or samsāra

In the form of a man up to the shoulders,
holding the conch (divine sound), discus (wheel of time) and sword (discrimination),
thousand-headed, radiant
I bow respectfully to Patañjali

CLOSING CHANT

Oṁ svasti prajābhyaḥ paripālayantāṁ
nyāyena mārgeṇa mahīm mahīśāḥ
go brāhmaṇebhyaḥ śubhamastu nityam
lokāḥ samasthāḥ sukhino bhavantu
oṁ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ

Om
May all be well with humankind
May the leaders of the earth protect in every way by keeping to the right path
May there be goodness for those who know the earth to be sacred
May all the worlds be happy
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
