Celeste’s yoga journey

Celeste McCarthy found yoga in her mid-20s via a life of chronic pain from scoliosis.

Moving to Honolulu, Hawaii from Seattle in 1999, she walked into a Bikram yoga studio ready to try anything to heal. After a few months, she experienced a reduction of back pain for the first time, and started to embrace the healing power of the practice. After moving to Arizona in 2002, her first baby was born with a rare kidney disorder and spent months in the hospital. Celeste’s consistent yoga practice helped her manage grief, anxiety and stress like nothing else could.

Celeste graduated her first 200- hour yoga teacher training program from SWIHA in 2004 and went on to teach prenatal, mommy and me, and kids yoga classes, which eventually lead to consistent teaching jobs at various gyms in the Valley.

Teaching and practicing kept her centered during her three kids’ early years, including both of her sons’ autism diagnoses. In 2016 she embarked on her second 200-hr YTT with LifePower Yoga under the leadership of Jason, Kerri and Marie, which led her to One Tribe.

Celeste believes deeply and on every level in the emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental healing power of yoga, as witnessed in her own life and through the experiences of students in class.

She is honored to be part of the community here at One Tribe, sharing growth, friendship, and healing both in the studio and out.

Celeste and her husband , Dr Brendan McCarthy, own Protea Medical Center in Chandler, where she sees patients as a Holistic Nutritionist . Outside of the studio you’ll find her hitting the trails of South Mountain solo, with friends , or with Brendan, kids Liam, Audrey and Aedan, and sometimes their fur babies Copper and Bess.
